The urgent need to unlock financing of transitions that are critical to achieve climate goals has never been more apparent. To achieve this, we need to drive both national level pathways and local action. During New York Climate Week, Climate Arc (Arc), and ClimateWorks Foundation joined forces with key thematic partners to explore ways of building richer and more context-specific transition analysis.
Over 80 participants from across the climate action community came together to unpack the gaps and challenges involved in localizing analysis; discussing possible solutions, areas for stronger coordination, and the highest impact actions we could achieve together.
Key themes quickly emerged through the discussions, highlighting shared challenges and potential solutions for advancing local transition analysis. Arc has distilled the workshop insights in a summary report, which is now openly available.

Discover Opportunities for Unlocking Climate Action through Localized Transition Analysis
As detailed in the report, participants were unanimous that greater coordination is essential. Cross-sectoral alignment and data integration are key in supporting this and can best be aided by establishing common language and standards through regular dialogue.
The workshop also established that, through focussed coordination, we can prioritize:
- Identifying relevant metrics and transition pathways tailored to various sectors and contexts.
- Establishing universally accepted benchmarks.
- Aligning regulation with established benchmarks to ensure they support sustainable practices.
- Providing tools and knowledge to help investors demand transition-aligned actions from companies.
Only by working hand-in-hand to pull complementary levers in the ecosystem, and by building on existing frameworks and established practices, can we achieve the granularity of decision-useful data needed to drive localized transitions to meet global climate goals.
Next Steps
To drive the coordination needed to deliver on these priority actions, Arc is keen to continue working with the community to explore how best we can coordinate the action needed together. Our aim is to connect the dots across related workstreams and develop plans to tackle crucial actions together.
